In Revenge of the Accused, grief pushes Annabelle toward an uneasy partnership with her guarded sister-in-law, Josephine. Together they reopen old wounds—and hidden paths through Morrigan’s woods—unearthing a legacy of forbidden rites that could heal or undo them both.
Reeling from a shocking letter, Annabelle is reminded of her own painful losses. Confiding in her aloof sister-in-law, Josephine, the two strike up an unlikely friendship and work together to undo what was done many years ago. Annabelle is made to confront the cause of her losses, the actions of her fanatical mother, Lady Rachel. The two sisters, with help from the mysterious Lady of the Wood, are able to initiate an uncertain Annabelle in the ways of the arcane and help the stoic Josephine open herself to the possibility and power of sisterhood.
Navigating a fraught past, an uncertain but magical present, and unravelling their own conflicts, Annabelle and Josephine learn from each other that there is more to Morrigan than meets the eye.
It was disturbingly brilliant. I will certainly be waiting for the third book.
I enjoyed this one very much.Reviewer
